Donate cryptocurrency to protect animals

What is cryptocurrency?

A cryptocurrency is a digital or virtual currency that can be used online.

Why we need your support

Fox in a field

Our vision is a world in which non-human animals are recognised as individuals and respected for their capacities and priorities, which are different to, but not lesser than ours. By making a donation today, you will be directly contributing to our work to protect wildlife, companion and farmed animals, and animals used in scientific research and entertainment.

OneKind must raise £300,000 each year to fund our current investigation and campaign work. The wins we have achieved over the years for animals, are only thanks to the generosity of our supporters, volunteers, and the public. OneKind relies on donations in order to continue campaigning for animals’ protection.

How cryptocurrency can help create a kinder world for animals

There are more than 220 million crypto users worldwide, and about $300 million are donated in the form of cryptocurrency each year. With the value of many cryptocurrencies rising, the community is in a position to create a huge impact for charities. We believe that accepting cryptocurrency donations will help us reach new supporters, which will increase our income. By doing so, we can fund even more campaigns to end cruelty to animals. We are lucky to have lots of different supporters, who really want to make a difference to animals’ lives, and we want to make supporting our work accessible to everyone.

We are always looking for new ways for people to support our work to protect animals, and Covid 19 also pushed us to get creative and develop new ideas, to ensure we could maintain our current level of work. It was important to us that animals were not left behind.

Lastly, a wallet address will be generated for your donation which is linked directly to our wallet.

Is it safe and legal to donate cryptocurrency?

Yes. There are no current legal restriction on merchants accepting cryptocurrency donations in the UK. HMRC have published guidance on the handling of such donations, which OneKind comply with. You can read that guidance at Tax on cryptoassets - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

  • Cryptocurrencies work using blockchain security. A blockchain relies on networks of thousands of computers to verify transactions. It is therefore almost impossible to break the security.
  • OneKind has custody and liquidity provided by Gemini, a licensed trust company regulated by the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYSDFS), a world leader in cryptocurrency security and regulatory compliance.
  • OneKind complies with the FRS 102 accounting policy which ensures our cryptocurrency donations are accounted for and measured accurately.
