In 2020, the Scottish Government announced an effective ban on seal shooting. This was very welcome news, as we had campaigned for a ban since 2009.

Salmon farmers shot seals to prevent them from attacking the cages of farmed salmon and eating the fish. In the first 3 months of 2020 alone, 31 seals had been recorded as killed. 

 

It is now illegal for salmon farmers in Scotland to shoot seals.
